One ratio tells you what breaks first

Your upload speed gets a 15% deduction for RTMP protocol overhead. What remains is your effective throughput. The tool compares this against your stream bitrate. The result is your headroom — the margin before the stream tears.

Three inputs, one formula, one answer

You enter your upload speed, stream bitrate, and resolution. The tool adds framerate and codec to catch edge cases — like 4K at 60 fps over h264, which may exceed encoder capability regardless of bandwidth. Everything else is derived from those numbers.

Green means margin. Red means it breaks.

The verdict is one of three. Each comes with the exact headroom percentage so you know what to change.

SAFE — Headroom ≥ 20%. Your stream has room for peak motion. No adjustment needed.
AT RISK — Headroom between 0% and 20%. Stream may tear during high-motion scenes. Consider lowering bitrate or resolution.
WILL BREAK — Headroom below 0%. Upload cannot sustain bitrate. The stream will drop frames or disconnect. Drop resolution or raise upload speed.

What this tool does not cover
